Just a quick one today- I can only take partial credit anyway, since I was mopping up for another artist who started the project but was not available to finish it. Really though, they should have just called me in the first place!
Maybe they needed a slower artist, to, I dunno, take his time sharpening his pencils or something. He was a graphite-on-paper kinda guy, and thus I had to match his drawing style best I could, so they could salvage the work he did that didn’t need revising. Frankly, it would have been faster and looked better if I just redrew it all in my own style, but I know better than to say that to clients. I do have the advantage of having digital drawing tools that can mimic pencil/paper textures.
Luckily, the spot was pretty simple and solid, conceptually. A pretty lady lays out her fresh bedspread, walks to the window, opens the drapes and (with the help of a Glade plug-in air freshener nearby) is aromatically uplifted into a soaring sensoral cloudscape on the backs of countless weightless doves.
Here’s the boards I drew for the project, and you can see the pencil-on-paper look I tried to achieve, and I think it works.
And here’s the final spot.
Thats all! See you next week.
